George Harrison Solo Vinyl Box Set in the Works

Beatles fans will be excited to hear that a box set of guitarist George Harrison’s solo studio albums is set to be released. The albums, reaching from All Things Must Pass (1970) all the way up to Brainwashed (2002), will be pressed on vinyl. Also included in the set will be the original release tracklists and artwork, 12’ single picture discs of “When We Was Fab” and “I Got My Mind Set On You,” a recording of Harrison’s live album from Japan (1992) and even some copies of handwritten song lyrics. An extended version of Harrison’s autobiography I Me Mine is also being released, which now reaches 632 pages and features lyrics to 50 new songs, as well as previously unpublished photos.

Harrison’s solo work, though stopping short of the massive influence that The Beatles exerted, arguably stood out as the best solo career after The Beatles’ breakup. His songs gave him the opportunity to showcase both his spirituality and his technical proficiency at the guitar, a skill he felt was not properly represented during his Beatles tenure. Harrison’s solo albums both blazed the path for new rock music and creatively reinterpreted his Beatles songs, such as “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” or “Here Comes the Sun.”

George Harrison: The Vinyl Collection will be released on Feb. 24, marking Harrison’s 74th birthday, for $466.98. You can preorder the set here, learn more here, and check out Paste Cloud audio from a 1975 interview with Harrison below.
