Beyonce Drops Out of Coachella, Will Headline in 2018

Beyonce has officially dropped out of her headlining spot at Coachella, but will return to reclaim the top of festival’s bill next year. Her label, Parkwood Entertainment, and the festival’s organizers released a statement to the Associated Press earlier today. It reads:

Following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months, Beyonce has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. However, Goldenvoice and Parkwood are pleased to confirm that she will be a headliner at the 2018 festival. Thank you for your understanding.

Beyonce would have been the first woman to headline Coachella since Bjork in 2007, and it would’ve been her first performance ever at the festival. No specific replacement headliner has been announced, but both Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar are holding onto their own headlining spots over the festival’s two weekends, which are the weekends of April 14 and April 21 (though we don’t need to tell you that, because you were either lucky enough to snag tickets last year or you weren’t).

Beyonce most recently broke social media records with her viral Instagram post showing off her new baby bump (it’s twins, in case you haven’t heard), and was without doubt the most talked-about and celebrated performer at this year’s Grammy’s, despite being snubbed in so many categories. Go ahead and check out Beyonce’s acceptance speech for one of her two recent Grammy wins below, and find the rest of Coachella’s 2017 lineup here.
