Broadway-Bound Mean Girls Musical Unveils Premiere Dates

The musical stage adaptation of the hit high-school flick Mean Girls will be coming to the National Theater in Washington, D.C., from Oct. 31 through Dec. 3 before a planned run on Broadway.

Though the cast is still to be announced, the show boasts an impressive creative team: Broadway.com reports that Tina Fey, the screenwriter of the original film, and creator of 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, is the project’s scribe.

Jeff Richmond, Fey’s husband, will compose the score alongside Nell Benjamin, composer of Legally Blonde. Casey Nicholaw of The Book of Mormon will direct the play, and Lorne Michaels, who produced the original Mean Girls (along with SNL, Parks and Recreation, Portlandia and, well, 50 percent of the hit comedies from the last 20 years), is jumping on as a producer alongside Stuart Thompson, a six-time Tony winner.

Stay tuned to Paste for more information about the forthcoming production.
