The Avalanches Announce First-Ever North American Tour

The Avalanches have never been on tour in North America. Never ever. Not once.

That changes in June when the sampledelia and plunderphonics pioneers play a sold-out show at the Brooklyn Bowl as part of Governors Ball After Dark, and then hit the road for about a month.

During their time out, the Australian duo will headline sets in D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Portland and Chicago, just to name a few stops.

Of course the duo does have only two albums to their name, 2000’s Since I Left You and last year’s Wildflower, which Paste’s review said had a “dreamlike thrall” while calling tracks such as “The Noisy Eater” the funniest pop song about breakfast cereal since Gorillaz’s “Superfast Jellyfish.”

There’s a chance the duo plays that and say, “Frankie Sinatra,” or “Frontier Psychiatrist,” but Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi have a lot of samples and source material to pull from, so the possibilities for an Avalanches set are about as endless as the time it takes them to put out an album.
