As reported by CBS Los Angeles, Bill Cosby has received a court date for a separate sexual assault case just a couple of weeks after the June 17 mistrial that left his legal team claiming victory.
As you’ve probably heard by now, Cosby is being sued by a slew of women who claim the comedian has sexually assaulted them. The first to take him to court was former Temple University director of women’s basketball Andrea Constand, whose trial resulted in a hung jury. The new suit, which is civil rather than criminal, will take place July 30, 2018, in Los Angeles. The lawsuit was filed by Judy Huth, who claims Cosby sexually assaulted her in 1974 when she was 15 years old. These are only two out of ten suits filed against Cosby. As of now, around 60 women have accused him of sexual assault.
Cosby suffered extreme scrutiny from media outlets (us included) immediately following the mistrial when his representatives went on record saying he would hold town hall-style meetings to talk about sexual assault. Cosby has since denied that he would do so, taking to Twitter to release a statement repudiating the claims.
