Will Deadpool 2 Have T.J. Miller’s Weasel and Dopinder Team Up?

Deadpool is one of those rare films that was both a massive risk and an overwhelming success. Despite being the first major comic book movie to be rated R, the film managed to not only become a critical darling, but it went on to be the highest grossing R-rated film ever.

A huge factor in the film’s success was its hilarious writing and performances. Deadpool really leaned into Ryan Reynolds’ comedic chops to endear audiences to the “merc with a mouth.” But it wasn’t just Reynold’s performance that caused theater-goers to snort fiery coke products out their noses. Supporting actors like T.J. Miller’s Weasel and the cab driver, Dopinder (played by Karan Soni), instantly became fan-favorite characters. That’s why it’s so exciting to learn that those characters aren’t just returning for Deadpool 2—they may get their own storyline.

Miller teased this potential team-up in a recent interview with Screenrant, saying:

We’re shooting in August and September and it’s going to be even more Weaselicious. The cab driver, Karan Soni, and Weasel have a pretty funny storyline, which I’m not positive is going to be in [the movie], but they were talking about it and it was really making me laugh. And I like him, I did Office Christmas Party with him, and he’s very funny, very quick and so, because we didn’t cross paths in the original film. So y’know [fans can expect] stuff like that. I think they’re really building out the world and deciding kind of what’s next.

This is all good news for the sequel that’s already begun production. The film, expected to release on June 1, 2018, will feature Josh Brolin as Cable and will be helmed by John Wick director David Leitch. These are good times to be a Deadpool fan.
