Director Ron Howard Shares First Look at Donald Glover as Young Lando Calrissian

Donald Glover (soon to retire his stage name, Childish Gambino) was cast last year as a young Lando Calrissian in the forthcoming Han Solo Star Wars project that recently went through a bit of a shakeup. Ron Howard, who replaced previous directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller in that shakeup, just shared the first picture of Glover in the role of Lando.

Howard’s Instagram post shows him at a monitor that displays Glover hunched over in a cockpit. Glover as Lando is sporting a neon flier jacket, which doesn’t seem as fun to pose in as old man Lando’s staple blue cape from when Billy Dee Williams played him. Check out Glover and Howard (sorry dude, you got upstaged), in the post below. Howard also shared a pic of wardrobe captioned, “Care to guess whose closet this is?” The aforementioned blue cape might give it away.

The somehow-still-untitled film is due out next year. Watch Glover talk about the role on Ellen, and check out more of what Glover is up to here. There’s a lot, from FX to Star Wars to one last Gambino record.
