Morrissey Says He Was Victim of a “Deliberate Act of Terror”

Do you ever feel yourself exaggerating an event to the point where it’s almost unbelievable? Though it comes as no surprise, Morrissey probably has you beat in that department, namely with his recent description of an encounter with the Italian police.

According to the singer, who blamed the Manchester Arena attack on Muslims everywhere, he didn’t back down when a police officer in Rome loudly confronted him outside of a Nike store “even though [he] believed [the officer] was about to shoot [him].”

The event was documented in a Facebook post made by Morrissey’s nephew and photographer Sam Esty Rayner, which features a picture of the officer (who resembles Buddy from Cake Boss) and a quote from Morrissey himself.

“This was a deliberate act of terror by this Officer,” says Morrissey. “I had not broken the law or acted suspiciously. The officer unlocked his gun and held it as he screamed into my face.” Morrissey believes the officer recognized him and “wanted to frighten [him].”

He also gave out the officer’s motorcycle plate number and warned others of the officer that “might kill you.” We guess the officer wasn’t a fan.
