A Murder on the Orient Express Sequel Is in the Works, Adapted From Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile

Sir Kenneth Branagh will don the mustache as Agatha Christie’s Detective Poirot once again. Per THR, Fox has given the green light to a sequel to Murder on the Orient Express, based on Christie’s Poirot novel Death on the Nile. Branagh is reported to return as the director-star.

The original 1937 novel had Poirot on vacation in Egypt, entangling himself in a love triangle that (predictably) leads to murder. As with Orient Express, this story involves characters of high class—socialites, social climbers and the like, another opportunity to put together an A-list ensemble cast.

Orient Express has made $150 million worldwide on a budget of $55 million, performing decently despite competition from Thor: Ragnarok (Branagh directed the first Thor) and Daddy’s Home 2. THR reports that Michael Green, screenwriter of Orient Express (as well as Logan and Blade Runner 2049), will return to write the sequel.
