Disney’s Streaming Service Launching in 2019, Film and TV Slate Already Set

Disney’s streaming service will be rolling out in the fall of 2019, with a slate of films and television series already set, per Deadline.

As previously mentioned, the new streaming service will be home to many Disney titles, along with films from Lucasfilm and Marvel. The 20th Century Fox library is still up in the air, as Disney’s deal to acquire the studio still has tons of red tape to make it through.

With the service’s launch set for next year, there are already five films and five television series set for it. Disney has set aside budgets for their television projects with costs ranging between $25-35 million for ten episodes, with fairly ambitious fare capping at $100 million.

The film slate is as follows:

In-development
3 Men and a Baby remake
Sword and the Stone remake
Timmy Failure (with Spotlight director Tom McCarthy attached)

Pre-production
A new adaption of Don Quixote (written by Billy Ray)
Lady and the Tramp remake
The Paper Magician
Stargirl (directed by Julia Hart)
Togo (directed by Ericson Core)

Post-production
Magic Camp (directed by Mark Waters)
Noelle (directed by Mark Lawrence; starring Anna Kendrick and Shirley MacLaine)

While the film projects are new to the public, the TV slate was confirmed months ago as the streaming service’s inaugural television programming.

With many decisions still up in the air, and a lofty film and television slate, it appears Disney is relying on what works while bringing some new ideas to the table.
