Eagles of Death Metal Singer Jesse Hughes Attacks “Disgusting” Parkland Shooting Survivors

Over the past few years, Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes has unexpectedly, and unfortunately, found himself at the center of the debates over gun control both at home and abroad. On Nov. 13, 2015, Islamist terrorists attacked the Bataclan in Paris while his band was performing, killing 89 people including the group’s manager. From there, Hughes cut an alternately sympathetic and antagonistic figure among gun-control advocates, gradually wiping away the former position by blaming the attacks on France’s gun-control laws, the Bataclan’s security personnel, and ‘a liberal curriculum’ in schools.

Hughes went so far in one 2016 interview as to blame the victims of the Bataclan attack for their own deaths, saying he watched as several people “surrendered to death.” So in that sense it’s not entirely shocking that he’s now maligning the survivors of the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., that took the lives of 17 Americans. On Sunday night, Hughes took the weakest modern route to any debate topic—the lonely, sofa-mounted megaphone of social media, in this case Instagram—to blast the participants in Saturday’s worldwide March for Our Lives rallies, calling the surviving students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School who marched in those rallies “disgusting vile abusers of the dead” who took “multiple days off of school playing hooky at the expense of 16 of your classmates blood.”

If you can bear to stomach it, the entirety of Hughes’s rant is below. The life-altering horror of what Hughes endured and witnessed in Paris cannot be overstated, which is why casting “shame” on the young survivors of another mass shooting seems debased even for him. Fittingly, he posted another missive to Instagram several hours later in which he wrote: “I’ve made a rule and my musical life that everyone should check their politics at the door.”

Obviously….The best thing to do to combat chronic abusers and disregarders of the law(like the law against Murder) is to……..pass another Law!…..Genius!!!…… but before we pass this law we’re going to denigrate the memory and curse ourselves by exploiting the death of 16 of our fellow students for a few Facebook likes and some media attention….and look how well civil rights abuses as it concerns firearms helped to protect me and my friends in Paris!!!!! This almost sounds like the plan of like a kid maybe like a high school student….!. Oh wait that’s right…. The Whitney Houston song about letting the children lead the way wasn’t actually had operating paradigm for life…..And when the truth don’t line up with your bullshit narrative just hold your breath and stamp your feet and refused to except it…. then take multiple days off of school playing hooky at the expense of 16 of your classmates blood….!…. it might be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic and disgusting……As the survivor of a mass shooting I can tell you from first-hand experience that all of you protesting and taking days off from school insult the memory of those who were killed and abuse and insult me and every other lover of liberty by your every action…..Long Live Rock’n’Roll….. and may everyone of these disgusting vile abusers of the dead live as long as possible so they can have the maximum amount of time to endure their shame….and be Cursed…”
