Pedro Pascal Cast in Pivotal Wonder Woman 2 Role

Game of Thrones and Narcos star Pedro Pascal has been added to Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman sequel in “a key role,” as Variety first reported. Pascal joins returning star Gal Gadot and recently cast antagonist Kristen Wiig (who will play Wonder Woman’s arch-nemesis Cheetah) in the sequel, which Jenkins will return to write, direct and produce.

“Joining legends @PattyJenks, @GalGadot and #KristenWiig for #WonderWoman,” Pascal tweeted on Wednesday evening. “Pinch me?” Jenkins responded, “Counting down the minutes until I get to work with the great @PedroPascal1 again. Welcome aboard!!!! Lucky us.” The actor/director duo have collaborated once before, on 2015 TV movie Exposed.

There’s no word yet as to who Pascal will be playing, other than an important character, but given that he has the Red Viper on his resume, the man’s action chops are beyond questioning. Next to nothing is known of Wonder Woman 2’s plot, for that matter, except that the sequel will be set in the ‘80s during the height of the Cold War.

Hot take alert: Wonder Woman is the DC Extended Universe’s only good movie. The 2017 film made Paste’s list of last year’s best films, grossed over $820 million worldwide and currently boasts an impressive 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, though it was not nominated for a single Oscar. Safe to say the sequel will be one of next year’s most-anticipated blockbusters.

Pascal recently appeared in blockbuster sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and can next be seen in Antoine Fuqua’s The Equalizer sequel, opening July 20, and in Barry Jenkin’s If Beale Street Could Talk, due out sometime in 2018. He is currently shooting J.C. Chandor’s Triple Frontier alongside Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam and Garrett Hedlund.

Wonder Woman 2, a top priority for Warner Bros., is slated to open on Nov. 1, 2019.
