Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Returning for Season Three

Amazon isn’t done with the Golden Globe-winning The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel just yet.

Mrs. Maisel is getting a third season on Amazon Prime, Variety has confirmed. The show’s snappy eight-episode season one, which began streaming last November, marks the first of two previously confirmed seasons for Mrs. Maisel: Amazon originally booked the show for 18 episodes. The latter 10 episodes are set to drop via season two later this year. No word yet on when season three will land, but we can safely assume 2019 will yield a third round of Mrs. Maisel episodes.

Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, whom you know as the mastermind behind the beloved Gilmore Girls, employs a familiar witty banter in the 1950s-set Mrs. Maisel that we’ve seen before with the modern day mother-daughter team Lorelai and Rory. The series follows Midge Maisel (played by Rachel Brosnahan, who marvelously won a Golden Globe for the role), an Upper West Side housewife who, in watching her seemingly perfect marriage disintegrate, decides to become a stand-up comic.

Sherman-Palladino was jonesing for a season renewal this weekend during her acceptance speech, after winning a Peabody Award for the show.

“You’re going to give it to us because we’re bringing home the fancy thing, right?” she said, eyeing Amazon executives.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is streaming now on Amazon, and you can revisit our review of season one right here.
