Before his surprising return to the Wonder Woman franchise, we’ll see Chris Pine and Patty Jenkins re-teaming for another, far darker project.
TNT’s forthcoming six-episode limited series I Am The Night (formerly titled One Day She’ll Darken) stars Pine as Jay Singletary, a journalist on a hunt for a story that leads him to Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), a young woman seeking to uncover the circumstances of her adoption. Things get eerie when the search reveals ties to an infamous 1947 murder case.
The script, penned by author Sam Sheridan, is based on true events from Hodel’s autobiography. Jenkins directed the pilot episode, with Emmy nominee Carl Franklin (Mindhunter, The Leftovers, House of Cards) helming two episodes. Pine (also an executive producer) and Eisley star alongside Jefferson Mays, Leland Orser, Yul Vazquez, Dylan Smith, Golden Brooks, Justin Cornwell, Jay Paulson and Connie Nielsen.
The chilling trailer promises an ominous murder mystery paired with complicated racial identity politics in turbulent mid-1900s America.
I Am The Night premieres on TNT in January of 2019. Watch the trailer below.
