Stoned and starving post-punk cover boys Parquet Courts put their name in the books by playing with the lines between underground and mainstream. Over the course of six different albums, we’ve seen the band careen all over the place in terms of sound and stylistics, which is part of the reason the Queens rockers have solidified a place for themselves amongst the New York greats.
The band released their Danger Mouse-produced album Wide Awake! earlier this year and have since been out on the promotional circuit. They’ve made some interesting stops, like a visit to the stage at Ellen for a performance of the title track from the album. During a recent live session at BBC 6 Music, they busted out a deep cut from fellow New York legends The Ramones.
“Today Your Love, Tomorrow The World” is fast and frenzied, and the Parquet Courts boys make it even more chaotic by playing it on synths. You can check out both the cover and the original below. Listen to the studio recording here.
