Fans of Smashing Pumpkins will have the chance to experience a night of the band’s almost-reunion tour in full tonight, Aug. 24. The show will be live streamed from Seattle, Wash., starting at 11:15 p.m. ET on Twitter. It will be streamed as part of the Live Nation Concert Series.
The Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour marks the first in almost 20 years with original members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin and James Aha returning. Though frontman Corgan recently described Kanye West as “brilliant and meteoric” in noting his dream collaboration with the rapper/producer, West will not be joining the lineup for the show. Instead, the original members will be joined by longtime Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder, bassist Jack Bates and keyboardist Katie Cole, with founding bassist D’Arcy Wretzky absent.
The tour follows the release of “Solara,” a new single produced by Rick Rubin. It was the first Smashing Pumpkins single in over 18 years featuring the aforementioned original members, as well as a teaser for the group’s long-awaited reunion album.
Check out the live-stream tonight via Twitter here, and revisit the music video for “Solara” below. The band’s upcoming tour dates are listed further down.
