Watch William Fitzsimmons Summon Soothing Indie Folk in the Paste Studio

Last week, singer/songwriter William Fitzsimmons debuted his new record, Mission Bell, and he stopped by the Paste Studios on album release day (Sept. 21) to perform three tracks from the LP. Fitzsimmons, an able fingerpicker, delivered a set of songs that landed like lullabies—not because they incite drowsiness; rather, his hushed voice and delicate acoustics lull the mind to somewhere calm. On one song, “Second Hand Smoke,” Fitzsimmons questions where a relationship went sour, but, in performance, it’s deeply peaceful. Watch below.

Fitzsimmons, backed by fellow songwriter Allie Moss, also performed “Never Really Mine” and “Wait for Me,” both from Mission Bell, which is out now. Mission Bell, his eighth studio album, is the follow-up to 2015’s Pittsburgh.

Watch Fitzsimmons’ entire Paste Studio session below. Further down, revisit his first Daytrotter session from 2010.
