Noah Centineo Joins Elizabeth Banks’ Charlie’s Angels Reboot

Netflix rom-com heartthrob Noah Centineo has landed his first major blockbuster role. Centineo is set to appear in the forthcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot as one of the Angels’ love interests, per Variety.

Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska are set to portray the titular crime-fighting trio, but it’s not yet clear which Angel Centineo will be paired with in the forthcoming reboot. They will also be joined by Jonathan Tucker, Sam Claflin and Luis Gerardo Mendez.

Director Elizabeth Banks welcomed Centineo to the cast in a tweet Tuesday:

Centineo broke out in the Netflix rom-com hits To All The Boys I Loved Before and Sierra Burgess is a Loser, and has quickly become an Internet teen heartthrob.

Banks wrote the latest draft of the script with Jay Basu, based on earlier takes by Craig Mazin and Semi Chellas. She will also produce with husband Max Handelman under their Brownstone Productions banner, along with Doug Belgrad, also co-financing through his 2.0 Entertainment, and Elizabeth Cantillon.

The first two McG-directed installments were unmistakably silly, even campy, but it looks like Banks will be taking a more grounded approach with her Angels. At one point, Banks’ Charlie’s Angels reboot was set to star Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o alongside Stewart and Scott. We’ll have to see how well Centineo’s very earnest appeal to his teen fans translates to the big screen.

The new Charlie’s Angels is set for release on Sept. 27, 2019.
