Jesse Plemons in Talks to Join Brie Larson in Charlie Kaufman’s I’m Thinking of Ending Things

Jesse Plemons is in talks to co-star opposite Brie Larson in Charlie Kaufman’s Netflix film I’m Thinking of Ending Things, per Variety.

Plemons will play Jake, a man on a road trip to meet his parents on their secluded farm with his girlfriend (Larson), who is thinking of breaking up with him. Jake leaves his partner stranded after taking an unexpected detour, unleashing a twisted mix of palpable tension, psychological frailty and sheer terror.

Basing his film on the 2016 novel by Ian Reid, Kaufman will adapt and direct I’m Thinking of Ending Things, his first live-action film since 2008’s Synecdoche, New York, for Netflix. He is also producing with Likely Story’s Anthony Bregman and Stefanie Azpiazu, plus Reid serving as a co-producer.

News broke that Larson was cast as the female lead in I’m Thinking of Ending Things just one day after the latest trailer for Captain Marvel, the Oscar-winning actress’ highly anticipated next project.

Up next, Plemons will appear in Martin Scorsese’s long-gestating The Irishman, also for Netflix. He also recently wrapped production on Fox Searchlight’s Antlers opposite Keri Russell, and Disney’s Jungle Cruise alongside Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.
