Al Pacino in Talks to Join Jordan Peele’s Amazon Series The Hunt

Al Pacino is nearing a deal to join Jordan Peele’s forthcoming Amazon drama series The Hunt, per THR. The role would mark the Oscar winner’s first regular appearance in a TV series, should he agree to the deal.

The series was created by David Weil, and produced by Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Sonar Entertainment. It follows a group of Nazi hunters in New York City in the late 1970s. The group, finding that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are hiding out in the city and planning to start a Fourth Reich in the United States, embarks on a mission to stop them.
The series has a 10-episode order from Amazon and has already cast Logan Lerman as a young man who gets pulled into the hunt after his grandmother is murdered. Pacino would play a veteran hunter who serves as a mentor to Lerman’s character.
Pacino previously won Emmys for his roles in the HBO miniseries Angels in America and the film You Don’t Know Jack. His only known credit for an ongoing TV series was for his very first role, a guest appearance in police procedural NYPD in 1968.
Weil and Nikki Toscano will serve as executive producers and co-showrunners for The Hunt. Peele and Win Rosenfeld will also executive produce the series for Monkeypaw, and Tom Lesinski and Jenna Santoianni will executive produce on behalf of Sonar.
“It’s cathartic. It’s noir. It’s frighteningly relevant,” said Peele of The Hunt upon its announcement last May. “It’s exactly what I want to see on television. I am thrilled to be working with Amazon in bringing this incredible vision to the world.”
