Exclusive: Over The Rhine Share Title Track from New Album Love & Revelation

Over The Rhine, the husband-wife duo made up of singer/songwriters Karin Bergquist and Linford Detweiler, are preparing to release their 15th album, Love & Revelation, on March 15. But this year marks not only the arrival of their new record, but also their 22nd year of marriage—and their 30th year of making music together. Today (Jan. 24), they’re sharing the album’s title track, premiering here at Paste. You can listen to “Love & Revelation” below.
Love & Revelation is the band’s first album in almost five years, following 2014’s Blood Oranges In The Snow. And after three decades as a band and more than two as a couple, Bergquist and Detweiler surely know a thing or two about both “love” and “revelation”—”Baby that is you and me, and inspiration,” Bergquist sings on the track. It’s a song about relationships—and the work it takes to sustain them. During the bridge, Bergquist offers her advice for doing just that: “Make a stronger case for, extend a little grace … do it face to face.”
Bergquist and Detweiler recorded Love & Revelation with engineer Ryan Freeland in Culver City, California, but they’re based in Ohio. Detweiler sounded off about the album and the band’s songwriting process:
