The Japanese House Shares New Good At Falling Single “Maybe You’re the Reason”

The debut album from Amber Bain, aka The Japanese House, titled Good At Falling, is due out March 1 via Dirty Hit/Interscope Records. Today (Jan. 14), Bain shares her latest single from the album, “Maybe You’re the Reason.”

Good At Falling is the follow-up to Bain’s four previously released EPs, and is co-produced by Bain, BJ Burton (Bon Iver, Francis and The Lights) and The 1975’s George Daniel—“Maybe You’re the Reason” reveals the album’s collaborative influence. The synth-forward track lyrically melds into a tender message of the hope we can harvest from love.

Within the painful existential crisis presented in “Maybe You’re the Reason,” Bain reveals that love may be the closest thing we have for an answer to life’s purpose. However, its true poignancy comes from Bain’s cautious optimism with a potentially placeholder solution to her internal struggle.

“I keep looking for something / Even though I know that it’s not there / Maybe you’re the reason,” Bain repeatedly sings in the chorus.

Previous advance tracks from Good at Falling include “Lilo” and “Follow My Girl,” the latter of which we highlighted as our Daily Dose upon its release.
