Jim Jarmusch’s Zombie Movie The Dead Don’t Die Gets Summer Release Date

It’s been quite a while since we’ve heard anything new about The Dead Don’t Die, the forthcoming zombie comedy from indie film auteur Jim Jarmusch, announced last summer by Focus Features. But as you already know, seeing as how you’re here, Focus breathed new life into the excitement surrounding this film on Wednesday afternoon, announcing its summer release date—June 14—and complete cast.

We already knew Jarmusch’s new movie was stacked in the onscreen talent department: The writer-director is reuniting with previously announced stars Bill Murray (Broken Flowers), Adam Driver (Paterson), Chloë Sevigny (Broken Flowers), Tilda Swinton (Only Lovers Left Alive) and Steve Buscemi (Coffee and Cigarettes), as well as welcoming in a high-profile new addition to the Jarmusch fold in Selena Gomez. Now, on top of that, Focus reveals that the film will also feature Danny Glover, Rosie Perez, Caleb Landry Jones, Iggy Pop, Sara Driver, RZA, Carol Kane and Tom Waits, in what their press release accurately calls “the greatest zombie cast ever disassembled.”

Daniel Craig and Austin Butler have also been reported to appear in the film, though Focus hasn’t mentioned either actor in its announcements to date—we’ve reached out to clarify. (Update: Focus confirmed that Butler is in the movie, but did not confirm or deny that Craig appears.)

For now, plot details for The Dead Don’t Die are buried deep, but we’re looking forward to the dark day they spring forth from the grave and wreak havoc upon the living.

Again, Focus opens The Dead Don’t Die in North America (with Universal Pictures International handling worldwide distribution) on Friday, June 14. Stay tuned for further updates.
