Venture into Fruit Bats’ “Gold Past Life” with New Track

Fruit Bats have released the titular track off their forthcoming album Gold Past Life, out June 21 from Merge.

Eric D. Johnson says that the new track addresses “love and fate and the meaningless random brutal nature of the universe. Y’know, small stuff and big stuff!”

Despite the vintage-sounding peppiness of “Gold Past Life,” Johnson’s assured songwriting keeps memories at a distance to avoid the risk of glorifying nostalgia.
