Netflix Shares First Trailer for Beyoncé’s Coachella 2018 Documentary Homecoming

Netflix has shared a trailer for a new documentary about Beyoncé’s legendary performance at Coachella 2018. The film is titled Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé, and it follows Beyoncé’s conception of the performance as an homage to historically black colleges all the way through its execution and the legacy it has built since.

“Interspersed with candid footage and interviews detailing the preparation and powerful intent behind her vision, Homecoming traces the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement,” Netflix explains in a press release.

Beyoncé’s headlining performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival took place on April 14 and 21, 2018. She was the first black woman ever to headline the festival, and the performance featured appearances from Beyoncé’s sister Solange Knowles, her husband Jay-Z and the members of her former group Destiny’s Child, along with around 100 dancers. “Beychella,” as it was dubbed, was such a spectacle that it topped Paste’s TV power rankings for that week, and was immediately met with overwhelming critical praise elsewhere.

The trailer for Homecoming comes after Netflix tweeted a teaser image over the weekend of the logo and release date for the film, prompting widespread speculation online. The documentary is set to arrive on the streamer on April 17. Watch the full trailer below.
