Omni Sign to Sub Pop, Share Sharp New Singles “Delicacy” and “I Don’t Dance”

It’s a particularly happy Friday for Atlanta post-punks Omni, who’ve signed to Seattle institution Sub Pop, the label announced this morning. The band have marked the occasion by sharing two new songs as part of the storied Sub Pop Singles Club series (recently revived after a 10-year absence), “Delicacy” and “I Don’t Dance,” and they are currently at work on their third album—Sub Pop’s presser promises more new music “in the near future.”

Omni frontman Philip Frobos explains in a statement that a-side “Delicacy” was “one of the first songs we wrote after a couple of years of non-stop touring behind Deluxe and Multi-task. It came naturally to [guitarist Frankie Broyles] and I but felt like we were headed someplace new. It’s written about falling in love, with who would become my wife, on a 23-hour layover in Casablanca, exploring a new continent, feeling intrigued and truly alive.”

Frobos and Broyles (formerly of Deerhunter) are kicking off a supporting tour with Foals and Preoccupations starting tonight, Friday, April 12, with a three-night stand at Brooklyn Steel. That stretch of shows runs through the end of the month, after which Omni will spend much of May playing U.S. headlining dates and festivals (including sets at Austin’s KVRX Festival and the Fisherman’s Village Music Fest in Everett, Wash.), ending in Nashville on May 22.

Omni’s untitled third LP follows a pair of releases on Trouble in Mind Records, 2016’s Deluxe and 2017’s Multi-task, the latter of which we ranked among that year’s best albums. The band also released a 7-inch via Chunklet in 2018, “Sunset Preacher” b/w “Confessional.”
