Rocketman Featurette Really Wants You to Know It's Not Your Average Rock Biopic

Just over a month out from Rocketman’s May 31 release, Paramount has released a featurette on the forthcoming Elton John biopic. The nearly minute-and-a-half-long clip doesn’t reveal much more than we already know about the film, starring Kingsman’s Taron Egerton as the living legend, but expounds on the fact that its universe is one in which fantasy and reality exist side by side.

Director Dexter Fletcher, who also helmed Bohemian Rhapsody, describes the project as “Elton’s magical re-telling of his own life.”

“Because of the nature of who Elton is, the storytelling allowed us to totally indulge in fantasy and imagination,” he adds. There’s plenty of hyperbole to go around from the various talking heads (Jamie Bell calls Rocketman “more than just a biopic”), not to mention an appearance from Sir Elton John himself.
