Versing's 360-Degree "Renew" Video Is a Treasure Trove of Oddities

Less than a month out from the May 3 release of their album 10000, Seattle’s Versing have shared the impressive video for their latest single “Renew.” The song itself, according to a statement from frontman Daniel Salas, is all about “taking time to care for yourself—even when things are all weird and fucked up.”

Things are pretty weird and fucked up, but also incredibly engrossing in the song’s 360-degree video, directed by Claire Buss. It’s set in a “subterranean warehouse world where nothing makes sense and everyone is slowly losing their minds,” according to a press release. The whole experience, scrolling left and right to take in the surroundings, feels like an I Spy book for grown ups. Events grow increasingly precarious and strange as the video continues, with the band members playing hand-clapping games in the background as different sets of figures rotate around the room immersed in their various activities. There’s a pair of girls drinking from increasingly large containers from their comically big bags, two construction workers building a tower, an enthusiastic woman working out and another woman slowly undressing during a phone call. It’s just about as odd as it sounds, and we guarantee you’ll need multiple viewings to take it all in.
