Barcelona’s Primavera Sound Festival to Launch Two New Locations in 2020

Though this year’s Primavera Sound Festival is halfway over, the party’s not over yet.

Now live on their website, the festival’s organizers have released plans for “Primavera 2020 Vision,” which currently outlines five locations for further Primavera events staggered throughout the next year.

Only three out of the five locations have been specified: Barcelona and Porto, Portugal, in early June (for which the lineups have already been released), and Benidorm, Spain, in early November for Primavera Weekender.

Although the other two locations are blurred out on the website, they’re clear enough to assume the hazy images of the London Eye and Hollywood sign, meaning that the U.S. and the U.K. will both receive the Primavera treatment next year.

Primavera is quite the spectacle. The stunning Spanish architecture and urban beachside backdrop of the festival’s Parc del Forum location, later set times and extensive, eclectic lineups year after year (2019’s lineup features—here we go—Erykah Badu, Liz Phair, Tame Impala, Solange, Rico Nasty, Big Thief, and Amyl and The Sniffers, among so many others) have given the festival a lofty reputation within the summer festival circuits.

Quite a few artists have been debuting new music at Primavera this year. Charli XCX brought out Christine and the Queens for a new collaboration titled “Gone” during her set yesterday, and Dirty Projectors have promised to debut new songs during their set later tonight.

Primavera Sound will continue through June 1. Find out how to stream the rest of the festival here.
