Exclusive: The Ocean Blue Share New Video, “All The Way Blue”

Hershey, Pa. outfit The Ocean Blue emerged at the tail end of the ’80s with much-loved dream pop gems like “Between Something and Nothing” and “Ballerina Out of Control.” Though their musical output has dwindled as of late, they’ve still maintained a cult following. Back in 2013, Sire and Rhino Records reissued their first three albums on vinyl, followed by live shows where they performed their first two albums in full.

Fans will be happy to learn The Ocean Blue are touring again and putting out a new album, Kings and Queens / Knaves and Thieves, on June 21 via Korda Records. Kings and Queens / Knaves and Thieves is their first LP since 2013’s Ultramarine. Today (May 30), they’ve shared the video for their new single, “All The Way Blue,” which you can watch below, exclusively at Paste.

“All The Way Blue” is a continuation of the yearning nostalgic pop that makes them so instantaneously beatific. With sublime piano, hyper-melodic guitars, neon synths, melodramatic lyrics and understated vocals, The Ocean Blue achieve emotional potency without any bombast.

“This song is about romantic love, how it changes perceptions and takes you over,” says frontman David Schelzel. “You see things differently when you’re in love, and through your love’s eyes.”
