Hovvdy and Lomelda Share Surprise Split EP Covers, Announce Tour Dates Together

Texas indie rockers Hovvdy and Lomelda are heading out on tour together next month, and today they’ve shared a surprise split EP covering each others’ songs.

The five-track project finds Hovvdy putting their lo-fi spin on Lomelda’s “Talk” and “Out There,” while Lomelda adds a minimalist bent to “Swing (softway),” “Colorful” and “Swing (expired).” Of the bunch, “Colorful” is perhaps the most revelatory; Lomelda’s tenderly layered vocals imbue a newfound depth to Hovvdy’s lyrics, while the dirge-like and arpeggiated synths warble in the distance.

The Covers EP will be released on a cassette via Double Double Whammy, and includes a bonus track. All proceeds from the sales will go directly to RAICES, a nonprofit that offers necessary legal services to underserved immigrant children, families and refugees. You can preorder it here.
