The same companies that brought the world the critically acclaimed Chernobyl, HBO and Sky, are teaming up for the drama The Third Day, which will star Jude Law, per Variety.

A six-part limited series, The Third Day will see Law star as Sam, who after being drawn to an island off the coast of Britain, has to deal with its unusual world and mysterious inhabitants. Between his isolation and the rituals of the inhabitants, Sam is faced with past trauma and finds himself immersed in a quest against the islanders as the lines between reality and fantasy blur.

With National Treasure’s Marc Munden in the director’s chair and Chimerica’s Adrian Sturges producing, the show is sure to be an adventure. Sky Studios will produce alongside Plan B, Punchdrunk International, and the series’ co-creator and writer Dennis Kelly (Utopia). Kelly co-created the show with Punchdrunk’s Felix Barrett.

“Dennis and Felix have created something fresh and unique, and we are thrilled to have this on HBO,” Casey Bloys, president of HBO programming, said in a statement (via Variety). “We look forward to collaborating with Punchdrunk International, Marc and Jude as well as furthering our relationship with Sky and Plan B Entertainment.”

Law is no stranger to Sky or HBO, having previously starred in The Young Pope and also starring in the forthcoming The New Pope. Production on The Third Day begins in July ahead of a 2020 launch on HBO.
