Salma Hayek in Talks to Join Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani in Marvel’s The Eternals

Joining an already star-studded cast, actress Salma Hayek Pinault is in early talks to star in Marvel Studios’ forthcoming film The Eternals, per TheWrap.

Assuming her deal closes, Hayek will star alongside Kumail Nanjiani and Richard Madden in the film that focuses on a group of ancient human beings. Hayek’s role in the film is being kept under wraps, however. Angelina Jolie is apparently also circling a role in the film, though she has yet to lock in an agreement. Otherwise, South Korean actor Don Lee will be making his American film debut in the film, according to TheWrap.

The Eternals, first created by Jack Kirby in 1976, details a group of ancient human beings created millions of years ago by a race of cosmic entities known as the Celestials. The film is set to revolve around “love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans,” according to previous reports.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige will be producing the film, with Matthew and Ryan Firpo writing the script. The Rider filmmaker Chloe Zhao will direct.

Prior to the film, Hayek has recently starred in Beatriz at Dinner, Drunk Parents and The Hummingbird Project. Other than The Eternals, her future roles include Limited Partners, a comedy with Rose Byrne and Tiffany Haddish, and The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, which is a sequel to the 2017 film The Hitman’s Bodyguard.
