Season Three of A.P. Bio Revived for NBCUniversal’s Forthcoming Streaming Service

Fans of A.P. Bio can rejoice, because the NBC sitcom has been revived to continue on at NBCUniversal’s forthcoming streaming service, per THR.

The news comes a month or so after NBC canceled the series following its second season. The show follows a disgraced college philosophy professor who doesn’t get the job of his dreams, so he moves back to his hometown in Ohio to teach—well, sort of teach—high school advanced placement biology.

The show stars It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Glenn Howerton, as well as Patton Oswalt, Paula Pell, Nick Peine, Jacob Houston, Jean Villepique and Allisyn Ashley Arm, to name a few. The show was created by Michael Patrick O’Brien, and is executive produced by Saturday Night Live’s Lorne Michaels, Seth Meyers and O’Brien.

“I’m so overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the fans,” O’Brien told THR. “The cast and I are thrilled that we get to make more and I’m excited to work with the NBCU streaming platform.”

Though the show never received rave reviews, NBC execs enjoyed it enough to slate it as the first scripted show for the NBCUniversal service. The show also marks the first series revived by its network’s own streaming service instead of a competing network or streaming service.

The series will join the likes of NBC series like The Office, which NBCUniversal acquired for a lump sum of $500 million after a bidding war with Netflix.

The NBCUniversal streaming service is set to launch in 2020, despite there being little to no information about it at this point.
