A24 Acquires TIFF Midnight Madness Film Saint Maud

A24 has picked up the North American rights to psychological horror film Saint Maud, one of the most-hyped movies to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness program.

Saint Maud follows a pious but unstable nurse, Maud, who becomes convinced that she must save the soul of her dying employer, Amanda, as signs of eternal damnation begin to present themselves in their isolated seaside town. It is the first feature film from British writer-director Rose Glass, whose other works include the short Room 55, and stars Morfydd Clark (Love & Friendship) as Maud, while Tony- and BAFTA-winning actress Jennifer Ehle (The Miseducation of Cameron Post, Zero Dark Thirty) plays Amanda.

Saint Maud will make its U.S. premiere on Sept. 19 at Fantastic Fest. It will also play in the official competition at BFI London Film Festival next month.

A24 has already put out more than its fair share of stellar horror titles, including Hereditary, The Witch, Midsommar and It Comes at Night, among others. We’ll be keeping a watchful eye on Saint Maud.
