Watch Lana Del Rey Cover Death Cab for Cutie with Ben Gibbard, Duet with Julia Jacklin

Lana Del Rey had some expert assistance in putting on a show to remember at Denver’s Bellco Theatre on Monday night, covering Death Cab for Cutie’s “I Will Follow You into the Dark” alongside the band’s frontman Ben Gibbard and duetting with Julia Jacklin on “Don’t Know How To Keep Loving You,” a standout track from the Australian singer-songwriter’s acclaimed sophomore album Crushing.

Del Rey is touring North America in support of her latest album, Norman Fucking Rockwell!, which Paste recently ranked among the decade’s best pop records. The singer also recently released a pair of non-album tracks, covering Donovan’s “Season of the Witch” for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and penning “Looking for America” in response to the ongoing mass shooting crisis in the U.S.

As for Del Rey’s Denver stage-mates, Gibbard and his Death Cab cohort released their ninth studio album Thank You For Today last August, following up with The Blue EP this September. And Jacklin is on a tour of her own in support of Crushing, which we ranked among 2019’s best albums (so far) back in June.

“There’s something really special about getting on stage and just being pretty direct lyrically,” Jacklin said of “Don’t Know How To Keep Loving You” in a March talk with Paste’s Ellen Johnson. “There’s something very weird and powerful about that I didn’t expect.”
