Billie Eilish Becomes Youngest Artist and First Woman to Sweep the Four Major Grammys Categories

On Sunday, Billie Eilish made history at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards when she won the four major categories—Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist—making her the youngest artist to sweep the four major awards, and also the first woman to do so.

18-year-old Eilish won Record of the Year and Song of the Year for her chart-topping hit “Bad Guy,” and won album of the year for her debut LP When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

Previously, Taylor Swift held the record for youngest artist to win Album of the Year when she snagged it for Fearless at age 20. However, Eilish is not the youngest to win Best New Artist in Grammy history—that would go to LeAnn Rimes, who won the award at 14 in 1996. Lorde also holds her spot as the youngest artist to win Song of the Year for “Royals,” which she won at 17, just one year younger than Billie.

Eilish’s brother and collaborator, Finneas O’Connell, also made some age-related Grammys history, winning Producer of the Year, Non-classical at 22—younger than the shared distinction by Michael Jackson and Toto, when the band members were 25.
