Unlock Your Magical Girl Potential in This Exclusive Mysticons Vol. 1 Preview

Unless you have a kid under the age of 12, you might not be familiar with Mysticons, a fantasy-adventure cartoon that airs on Nickelodeon and features four destiny-driven girls combating dark sorcery from atop their griffin steeds. Whether or not you can hum the cartoon’s theme song from memory, Mysticons taps into the current Magical Girl revival that has helped popularize comics like Zodiac Starforce and Agents of the Realm. Next week, Dark Horse Comics brings heroes Arkayna, Emerald, Zarya and Piper to print with Mysticons Vol. 1, written by Kate Leth, drawn by Megan Levens and colored by Marisa Louise. Leth, Levens and Louise are the creative team behind the witchy road-trip comic Spell on Wheels, which, like Mysticons Vol. 1, features a gorgeous cover from Jen Bartel. This inaugural comic tie-in volume finds the titular heroes facing off against evil biker twins who have been using wicked magic to rig Drake City’s drag race circuit.
