Wonder Woman 1984 Director Patty Jenkins Shares First Look at Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah

Wonder Woman 1984, the sequel to last year’s critically acclaimed superhero flick Wonder Woman, recently began production, and director Patty Jenkins and Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, have started sharing exciting sneak peeks at the sequel. Those have included pictures of Gadot and a snapshot of Chris Pine reprising his role as Steve Trevor, an exciting turn for fans who thought the character had been killed off in a plane explosion.

The latest look into the sequel gives us the first glimpse of Wonder Woman’s new nemesis. Jenkins took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to share a picture of Kristen Wiig as the Amazonian’s newest enemy, Cheetah. The photo shows Wiig dressed in unassuming, non-supervillain clothes with the caption, “Enter Barbara Minerva… #WW84.” a British archaeologist Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva is the civilian alias of Cheetah, one of several the villain has had over the years.

It was recently announced that, due to scheduling conflicts, Wiig would bow out of her role in the Apple series You Think It, I’ll Say It in order to shoot Wonder Woman 1984. The sequel is the fourth DC Universe film to feature Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and the first film in the franchise was the highest-grossing film with a female director. Wonder Woman 1984 hits theaters on Nov. 1, 2019.
