Watch FINNEAS’ Poignant Video for “I Lost a Friend”

Songwriter, producer and chart-topping artist FINNEAS has released the music video for his single “I Lost a Friend.”

Shot in one take, the video takes place in the picturesque landscape of Lancaster, Calif., per a press release. Directed by Sam Bennett, the video showcases the singer as he lip-synchs the lyrics to the track and seemingly drunkenly strolls through a field. Overcome with blatant emotion, he’s accompanied by shadow-like dancers and battles the grief of loss through the video. Poetically aligned with the beat drops and synths of the song, FINNEAS’ movements act more as a lyrical dance than a drunken stupor.

“This song was born out of a falling out I had with my childhood best friend,” FINNEAS said in a statement. “I’ve made a lot of music covering romantic relationships and a lot covering family but I’d never been able to articulate what it feels like to lose a friend until now. Hope this song gives you some comfort if you’ve ever felt the same way.”

Though the singer has his own music endeavors, he’s risen to fame by co-writing and producing his sister Billie Eilish’s album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?. Other than Eilish, the singer has collaborated with big names such as Khalid, Bruno Major, Jessie Reyez, Olivia O’Brien and Marian Hill, to name a few.

FINNEAS recently released his solo single “Angel,” which showcases his falsetto and heartfelt, romantic songwriting.
