Phil Elverum to Reunite with The Microphones for Rare Washington State Show

Phil Elverum announced Monday night via Twitter that his past alias, The Microphones, is back.

The multi-instrumentalist, producer and recording engineer will reunite with The Microphones for a hometown show in Anacortes, Wash., on July 20. The event is called “What the Heck?” and has already sold out.

Fellow Pacific Northwest-based bands Black Belt Eagle Scout, Lois, Little Wings, Karl Blau, Pounding Serfs and more will also perform.

With delicate, restrained vocals, experimental instrumentation and earnest, vulnerable lyricism, Elverum’s work helped define the ‘90s Washington lo-fi and psych-pop sound.

The last Microphones show took place in the early 2000s, but past recordings from the band have been released over the years.

In 2003, Elverum released the last Microphones album,Mount Eerie, and has performed under the moniker Mount Eerie ever since.

More information regarding the rare show is located below.
