14 Musicians Share Their Thanksgiving Traditions
11. Brian Holl of Foreign Fields
What is your Thanksgiving tradition?
Beer, football. My aunt always had National Geographic sitting next to an overstuffed leather chair. That year, I fell in love with the simple life. Thanksgiving is also a time for white Zin, regardless the age.
How did it get started? How many years has this been going on?
I guess the Zin story roots from my dad giving me 7-Up in a wine glass. I was feeling risky one year and went for it all when I was 12.
Give us a rundown of the food involved. What are the go-to dishes?
Cheese spreads. Yeah, turkey, and stuffing, and bread. The essentials. But that’s dessert for the main course, three o’clock cheese spreads with venison.
What are you washing it all down with?
It’s the only time of year I get excited about white Zin.
What’s your stance on gravy? On turkey? On everything? Abstaining?
Everything is amazing. I like my burgers with the works. Make potatoes interesting by adding them to a salad and then putting hummus in it. Who cares. Add everything. My stance on everything is that everything really matters.
