Leonard Dillon, the leader of this Jamaican ska/rocksteady/reggae group, originally recorded under the name Jack Sparrow. During the 1960s and '70s, he and his Ethiopians bandmates recorded several albums and singles for labels such as Trojan, Heartbeat and Jamaican Gold, including this wonderfully skankin' pirate anthem.

Guitarist Jerry Garcia and lyricist Robert Hunter penned this highly symbolic tune about a weary, wary, thirtysomething seafarer who's had just about enough reckless adventure.
