Amy Schumer to Make Broadway Debut in Steve Martin’s Meteor Shower
Photo by Kevin Winter/GettyWhether you spend your time avoiding Amy Schumer or following her every move, you have to admit that the former takes a considerable amount of effort. From Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer to big-screen gigs like Trainwreck and Snatched, Schumer just won’t leave us alone. Conquering yet another medium of entertainment, Schumer will make her Broadway debut in Steve Martin’s second Broadway play, marital comedy Meteor Shower, this fall. Per The NYT, Martin recruited Schumer for the play himself, approaching her at a party and asking her to read the script.
Schumer will star alongside comedy vets including Keegan-Michael Key, Alan Tudyk and Laura Benanti. As the only four people in the production, the cast will act out a night of antics that occur during a 1993 meteor shower in California. Martin’s play has been described as “offbeat,” which may mean—emphasis on “may”—that it’s not particularly funny. We guess we’ll have to wait until November rolls around to judge for ourselves.
Meteor Shower will begin previewing on Nov. 1 and will officially open at Manhattan’s Booth Theater on Nov. 29.
