Alien-Like Thom Yorke Stars in Mark Pritchard’s Music Video for “Beautiful People”

English electronic musician Mark Pritchard has released a video for his song “Beautiful People” via The Guardian. Both the song and the video feature iconic Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, who appears in the video as an apparent knee sock-wearing alien roaming through barren tundra.

Yorke may already exist in an alternate dimension when we do not see him: it would explain his impenetrable mystique and otherworldly falsetto. Acclaimed Polish filmmaker Michal Marczak seems to have brought to life that extraterrestrial homeland in “Beautiful People.” Yorke’s voice perfectly matches the video’s eerie, dark landscapes. Along with ambient flute lines, his vocals intertwine with shifting angular shots of grim cliffs and inverted rock slides.

Yorke’s face appears as a fluctuating hologram as he sings bleak lyrics like, “I killed my love / Please come to see.” Pritchard has said that the song is about “loss, hopelessness and chaos, but the message is love and hope. Thom’s contribution to this collaboration captured perfectly what the piece is about. I will be forever grateful to have worked with such an immense talent.”
