Hear Blitzen Trapper Perform the Best of Furr in 2008

Blitzen Trapper have been releasing albums fairly consistently since 2003, but arguably none has topped their 2008 LP Furr, which is now something of a modern indie classic. The beloved Portland band released a deluxe edition of their Sub Pop debut last fall, 10 years after its release in September of 2008.

A few weeks before that album’s arrival in 2008, Blitzen Trapper recorded a Daytrotter session on Sept. 3. They performed four songs from the album, including the title track and standout “Not Your Lover.” The Furr deluxe edition features the original record, plus 12 rare and previously unreleased songs. Daytrotter’s Sean Moeller wrote of the band:

There’s a ginger and charming touch to all of the sounds that this band of great friends make, whether they’re crafting odd bursts of hyperactivity that sometimes sound as if Nashville was short-circuiting or doing what they do best – making songs that turn somber bits of consternation into whistling ballads and sweltering flushes that are just swollen with horizons past and present.
