The first time that I heard Neil Jackson of Built Like Alaska sing the line, “The heartache endures,” it sounded to me as if he said, “The heart will never endure.” It was heard out of the corner of my ear, from somewhere on the very edge of cognition, the words defined by a busy head that was only half-listening. It seems like, in this case, we could both be right and we’ll leave it at that.
