Warner Bros. Pictures has released the trailer for the next installment of the action-comedy series Shaft, in theaters June 14.
Richard Roundtree and.Samuel L. Jackson return as the titular characters for the franchise’s fifth installment, this time joined by the heir-to-the-bad-motherfucker throne, Jessie Usher as John Shaft Jr. Regina Hall also stars.
The screenplay was penned by Black-ish creator and Girls Trip writer Kenya Barris, with co-writer Alex Barnow of The Goldbergs, and was directed by Barbershop’s Tim Story.
Roundtree began the series in 1971 as John Shaft I, with Jackson following in 2000 as his nephew, John Shaft II.
