Countable App

It’s easier than ever to track political issues. There was once a day where you had to attend rallies and read the newspaper to ascertain what a representative’s platform once (and not necessarily how they acted), but at this point in our enlightened modern society, you can check an entire person’s history in a matter of seconds. Countable helps you do just that, and it keeps you up to date as you’re doing it.

In short, Countable is a legislative tracking app. It allows you, as a citizen, to see how certain people vote, browse bill and issues summaries, and track their tendencies and history. You can check issues for fun, or actually track your own personal representatives and see how they vote versus your personal ideologies.

The interface is clean, easy to read, and simple to use. By way of three bottom tabs you’ll explore trending bills by way of a newsfeed-like structure, your votes, and general topics from everything as basic as finances all the way to Native American issues. In other words, even if you aren’t typically enamored by the idea of a political discussion, odds are you’ll find something related to your interests.

You can log in with a proprietary account and track everything over time, or simply skip the process and just browse your favorite topics. Thankfully a recent update added the ability to login via email rather than just Facebook authentication, which is a great thing for those of you who are opposed to social networks and privacy concerns. Given the fact that privacy is a hot-button issue right now, this was a no-brainer.

Countable offers a very clean interface and pretty much everything you’d need to track current issues. It’s not the deepest source and you’ll need to check a few other avenues if you want to know everything that’s going on in our government today, but this is a great start, and an even better way to see if your representatives are actually representative of your interests.

Countable is an iOS app that can be downloaded for free in the iTunes App Store.
