Durand Jones & The Indications Announce New Album, Release Lead Single

Durand Jones & The Indications have announced a new album and tour, both coming in early 2019.

American Love Call is the group’s second LP following their self-titled debut, released in 2016 just after the 20-somethings graduated from Indiana University. With the album announcement comes its lead single and accompanying music video, “Don’t You Know.”

From the start, the band’s laid-back, early-’70s groove, when paired with the two impossibly smooth vocalists at the forefront of the project, allowed Jones & The Indications to reach an almost nostalgic, ridiculous level of cool. This is ever-present in “Don’t You Know,” which more heavily features the falsetto of drummer Aaron Frazer and pulls out Impressions-esque harmonies for the hook.

The accompanying video switches between demolition derby shots and performance shots in a dimly lit bar. On paper this reads as totally random, but Jones & The Indications, unsurprisingly, manage to keep it groovy.

American Love Call is set for release on March 1, 2019, via Dead Oceans/Colemine Records. In support of the LP, the band will be touring from January through May in both Europe and North America.

Check out the new single below, along with the band’s 2017 sessions at the Paste Studio and Daytrotter. You’ll find their tour dates further down.
